Gene Autry veste i panni di un moderno cowboy che dirige una emittente radio dal suo ranch. Un giorno, assieme agli amici, viene rapito dai Thunder Riders, superstiti del perduto popolo di Mu stabilitisi nel sottosuolo in una avveniristica città. Questa città è chiamata Murania ed è stata fondata dagli abitanti di Mu nella lontana era glaciale. I suoi abitanti, dopo millenni di vita nel sottosuolo, devono indossare delle maschere per poter respirare in superficie
Un gruppo di truffatori capitanati dal Dr. Beetson vuole invadere Murania per appropriarsi dell'uranio in loro possesso.
Il Dr. Beetson cercherà anche di disfarsi di Gene e dei suoi amici.
